Action Needed: Write to Your Senators

November 20, 2024

Later today, the Senate will vote on resolutions introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders disapproving of weapons sales to Israel. While we remain concerned about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, we do not support cutting essential military assistance to Israel, as it faces increased security threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and other regional actors.

Join us in telling your senators to reject these resolutions and support the military sales to Israel proposed by the Biden-Harris White House.

Meanwhile, even though Donald Trump’s second term as president has not begun, he’s attacking our democracy by strong-arming the Senate into abdicating its constitutional duty to advise and consent on his appointments.

The Senate is empowered by the Constitution to hold hearings to vet presidential appointments to key government positions. But Donald Trump doesn’t think the Constitution applies to him, and he’s trying to push through unqualified, extremist appointments without confirmation hearings or a Senate vote.

No hearings. No votes. No accountability. That’s how Donald Trump wants it. But it’s not the system of government we have.

Write to your senators today and demand they oppose recess appointments for Donald Trump’s nominees.

Trump is trying to usurp the Constitution because he knows his cabinet nominees are extreme and unqualified. They’re also an affront to Jewish and American values.

  • His choice for Attorney General is an alleged sex offender.
  • His choice for Director of National Intelligence is dangerously aligned with tyrants.
  • His choice for Secretary of Health and Human Services is an anti-vaxxer.
  • His choice for Ambassador to Israel is a Christian fundamentalist.

The founding fathers expected the separate branches of government to guard their independence. We cannot allow Donald Trump to subvert our democracy with these appointments, and the Senate should not capitulate to his demands.

Sign below to tell your senators to oppose recess appointments and fulfill their constitutional obligation to advise and consent on nominees.
